E-Leader Workshop
On June 10, 2017 the Wadhwani Foundation owned by an Indian-American Philanthropist, Mr. Romesh Wadhwani, conducted its first E-Leader workshop in the Philippines, a whole day event which was held at De La Salle College of St. Benilde that was attended by 47students from 13 different universities in the Philippines. One of the fortunate pioneering universities attended the said event is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
The prestigious workshop had been represented by the four chosen students coming from the department of Entrepreneurship namely Daniela Bianca Payumo, former Student Assistant and Vice President for Legal Affairs, Jeah Mae Tambago, current Student Assistant of the Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship, and two leaders from the Entrepreneurial Students Society, Joanna Kristine Pojas (Vice President for Advertising and Public Relations) and Bea Angela Guevarra (President). It was also attended by some faculty from Ateneo De Manila University and of course, the President of the University host was also present.
Wadhwani Foundation's main objective is to build an entrepreneurial skill to various universities to empower students with necessary tools and guidance to leverage their entrepreneurial abilities and to enable students to become entrepreneurial leaders who are focused on business opportunities and value creation. This project aims to practice and promote entrepreneurship in their campus communities, and to view and explore entrepreneurship as career. It looks forward to create E-cells in university campuses that welcomes not just entrepreneurship students but is open to all aspiring entrepreneurs either a student pursuing any degree or a bachelor's degree holder and most especially, to student-entrepreneurs.
The discussion also encompassed self-discovery and leadership, Wadhwani way of making leaders in the campuses and action planning which included the teaching of some strategies to sustain an entrepreneurship organization such as the creation of promotion and momentum on an event project as well as raising of funds, event management, documentation and succession planning. At the workshop, an android application called Learnwise had been introduced to sustain the connection and existence of the E-cell of each campuses and also to provide tools for entrepreneurial activities.
The interactive workshop was hosted by Mr. Cris Delgado, event's coordinator with Ms. Jothy Gadvani, a delegate speaker from the Wadhwani foundation. Several activities had been prepared to stress the objective of the workshop and to impart to the attendees the essence of entrepreneurship and leadership. Students were divided into six teams to participate on the activities. The exercises did not just build network for their mutual interest but then created bond and friendship among participants. This event had taught the students the importance of knowing the leadership style you have and the best leadership style to be able to handle an organization. This had imparted that team work is a crucial part to become successful.
At the final part of the event, Mr. Ariel Pineda, President of the NEN WF Philippines of the university host, De la Salle College of St. Benilde took the opening of the interim of the E-cell board executives of the pioneering universities. The four delegates from PUP appointed Jeah Mae Tambago to represent the university as one of the board member. Meanwhile, she has been elected as the Assistant Treasurer of the first batch of the E-leaders in the Philippines. The event ended with the awarding of the certification of participation.
