2nd ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival
Last September 5, 2017, the 2nd ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival was held at the Philippine International Convention Center. It was attended by Prof. Cresilda Bragas, Prof. Paul John Raci, Ms. Benina Mayores, Ms. Mariel Alberto and Mr. John Vincent Olayres.
The 2nd ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival is the biggest annual gathering of young entrepreneurs across Southeast Asia. This carnival shows how to be a successful ASEAN person. This aims to connect the delegates to build relationship and network with regional linkages. As well as, to unleash heroism in every youth and young entrepreneurs through social entrepreneurship. This event was participated by more than 2000 delegates across the ASEAN Countries. The program discussed about the success stories in ASEAN, Leadership, and Social Entrepreneurship.
The program begins with the opening remarks entitled #FORCEBEWITHYOUTH with the DTI Secretary, Mr. Ramon M. Lopez as he officially open the carnival saying "It will start with a single decision on taking the challenge, B.E. A. H.E.R.O." meaningBuild your brand.Encourage Disruption. Advance networking. Harness Experience. Realize Opportunities. Sec. Lopez also encourages the youth to become a better person through hard work with the right attitude to embrace to be able to change the world for the better. After giving his message, it was followed by a motivational talk from Mr. Joey Concepcion, Chair of ASEAN Business Advisory Council and Mr. Rommel Gerodias, President of the Philippine Young Entrepreneurs Association with the segment entitledBIG BROTHER KNOWS! Mr. Concepcion says to the delegates “If you are afraid to make mistakes, then you will never succeed.”. He also stated the different opportunities that the young entrepreneurs have today. While, Mr. Gerodias encourages the youth and young entrepreneurs to begin working on building global relationships that opens new ideas, new practices, innovation, and markets to be able to achieve the full benefit of ASEAN integration. After the Big Brother Knows!, it was followed by an interactive session entitled#BAE: BEHIND THE ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITYwhich is moderated by Ms. Renelyn Tan-Castellejos together with the speakers from different ASEAN countries namely Ms. Alma Algayoso from the Department of Trade and Industry, Mr. Syed Nabil Aljeffri from Malaysia, Ms. Eleanor Mak from Australia, Mr. Hanz Lukiman from Indonesia, and Mr. Wu Youjian from China. The Session aims to educate the youth about the ASEAN Economic Community and its benefits and opportunities for the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs and ASEAN Youth.This session also explains the collaboration between ASEAN and its dialogue partners through entrepreneurship. After the interactive session, the program took a break for the networking lunch.
After the networking lunch, the session was continued and begins with another interactive session entitled #YOLO: YOUTH ON LIMITLESS OPPORTUNITIES which is moderated by Ms. Ces Rondario together with the speakers namely; Ms. Audrey Pe, Mr. Vince Golangco, Mr. Kesavan Sathyamoorthy, and Mr. Gigih Septianto. The session aims to inspire the youth by sharing the success stories of the young entrepreneurs and their journey through success and hardships to be where they are today. After the #YOLO, it was followed by the last interactive session for the program with the partnership of National Youth Commission entitled #LOL: LEADERS ON LENDING A HAND which is moderated by Mr. Brian Tenorio together with the speakers namely; Ms. Cherrie Atilano, Mr. Prim Paypon, Ms. Tal De Guzman, Mr. Henry Motte-Muñoz, Ms. Liza Diño-Seguerra, and Ms. Kim Lim from Malaysia. The session focuses on how the Young Entrepreneurs creates a social impact through social entrepreneurship. And the power of collective dreams for the betterment of local communities. After all the interactive session, it was followed with the inspirational talk entitled LET’S CLIQUE from the Chairperson of National Youth Commission, Mr. Cariza Yamson Seguerra and was represented by Commissioner Perci Cendeña as he leaves the people asking them“How can we help fellow Filipinos and fellow ASEAN citizens in realizing their aspiration?”. After Commissioner Cendeña, it was followed by the launch of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Association, where the leaders of Young Entrepreneurs Association of ASEAN countries gives their oath and did the traditional ASEAN handshake. After the launch, the program ends up with the closing remarks entitled #BOOT: BUILDING ON OUR TESTIMONIES with the DTI Undersecretary, Ms. Nora K. Terrado, as she stated on her speech the rapid transformation of the digital technologies and its influence to the youth and social entrepreneurship. Usec. Terrado formally close the program saying“Let us work together in redefining heroism, providing social solutions towards the greater good.”
In the end, the 2nd Young Entrepreneurs Carnival gave a highlight on Technology, ASEAN, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Networking, and Tomorrow. Aiming for the future business leaders and young entrepreneurs to stand as the modern day heroes. The event ended leaving a question to the youth and young entrepreneurs “As a Southeast Asian Youth, how will you Harness Excellence. Realize Opportunities to help the ASEAN Community”
